GOLAGHAT: Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic situation and night curfew, thieves seem to be having a field day. Since the first phase of lockdown, several incidents of theft were reported in Golaghat.

On Thursday night at Rangajan area near NH-39, thieves entered six business establishments and tried to loot. But unfortunately, they could not break the locks and shutters of four establishments and could only decamp with goods from two business establishments. Thieves entered Vishal Hardware at Rangajan and looted goods worth several lakhs of rupees. The CCTV cameras installed in the hardware store were also damaged by the thieves. Meanwhile, the police have started investigation but no one had been nabbed till the filing of the report. Recently, Golaghat police nabbed several thieves but incidents of theft continue to increase.
