BISWANATH CHARIALI: Luxurious river cruise ‘MV Ganga Vilas’ arrived at Biswanath ghat in Biswanath subdivision on Saturday. The passengers of the cruise that travelled through the 27 river systems of India and Bangladesh were given a warm welcome by Biswanath administration at the historic Biswanath ghat known as Guptkashi.

The foreign tourists first visited the historic Shiva Doul at Biswanath ghat and got an understanding of its religious historical importance. The tourists were overwhelmed to see the weaving being performed by several weavers of Biswanath ghat.

The tourists then reached the main temple premises of Biswanath ghat. Foreign tourists witnessed Bihu performance of the Bihu team. Several foreign tourists were delighted to dance Bihu with the Bihu group. They termed the experience of visiting multiple temples of the historic Biswanath ghat, a temple town with 27 smaller temples, as an exception. Apart from visiting the Biswanath temple, tourists were also seen praising its artistic form by looking at various materials, crafts, clothes, etc. of the exhibition organized under the Department of Silk and NABARD at the temple premises.

A total of 26 tourists from Switzerland and 2 tourists from Germany arrived at Biswanath ghat on Saturday with the aim of crossing a total of 3,200 km of waterways from Varanasi to Dibrugarh. After receiving hospitality at Biswanath ghat for about two hours, the tourists started the journey to Dibrugarh again. The officials of Biswanath administration, Biswanath MLA, social workers, local people, scribes etc were present on the occasion.
