TINSUKIA: Several organisations including victims resorted to road blockade at Dirak Gate of Assam-Arunachal border under Kakopathar Police Station of Tinsukia district on Tuesday after 13 fire service persons appointed by an outsourcing agency of Oil India Limited were debarred from joining allegedly by Arunachalee people at Kumsai under Diyun Circle of Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district. Tension is prevailing in the area as vehicular traffic has been stalled on either side of the border.

According to reports, 13 persons bearing call letters issued by NEFSA (North East Fire Service Academy) were threatened and driven away after they reported at Diyun on April 5 allegedly by local goons led by one Gogoi, an Assamese-Arunachalee of Diyun.

A highly placed OIL source said, these appointments had nothing to do with OIL management as reported by a section of web media and 9 persons are usually appointed against one fire tender. All the persons appointed by the outsourcing agency were Arunachalee other than 2 who were from Assam, informed the source adding that it was Gogoi who wanted his candidates to be in the job and fomenting troubles. Meanwhile, Changlang administration has convened a reconciliation meeting with the representative of OIL on Wednesday.
