Road Safety Awareness Campaign held at Dhakuakhana College of Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A programme as a part of the Integrated Education Campaign on Road Safety Awareness was held at Dhakuakhana College of Lakhimpur district on Saturday.

The programme was organized under the auspices of the Lakhimpur District Road Safety Committee and District Transport Office in association with the Dil Swadhin Air NGO.

Lakhimpur District Transport Officer Sitaram Doley was present in the programme as a chief resource person who laid emphasis on abiding by traffic rules. “At present, there is an exorbitant increase in the number of vehicles everywhere keeping pace with the growing population. This has resulted in frequent and unexpected accidents. So everyone should abide by the traffic rules to avoid accidents and to secure their valuable lives,” he said while addressing the students of the college present in the program.

In the programme, assistant enforcement inspector Rajibjyoti Bhuyan highlighted various aspects of traffic acts and the penalties being charged for the violation of the traffic rules. He also appealed to the students to obey the traffic rules and to create awareness among the people about these rules.

The awareness meeting commenced with Dhakuakhana College Principal Dr. Jogananda Sut in the chair and under the management of the Dil Swadhin Air NGO president Hemanta Bonia.
