Robbery at Senior Police Officer's Home in Guwahati Raises Concerns, Investigation Underway

GUWAHATI: A recent incident of robbery has shaken the residents of Hengerabari in Guwahati, as reports emerged on Wednesday about a burglary at the residence of senior police officer Tapan Kumar Deka. The incident took place at Deka's home on Gopal Krishna Path, where the robbers broke in while he was away. It is worth noting that Deka currently serves as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau of India.

According to eyewitnesses and neighbors, Deka's residence has been unoccupied for some time. Upon learning about the incident, the Dispur police swiftly responded by deploying three security personnel to protect the cop's residence, following a letter of request from Deka himself. However, the incident has raised concerns among the local community, who claim that such incidents occur frequently in the area. They question the effectiveness of police patrolling and express dissatisfaction with the authorities inability to prevent such crimes.

"This is not the first incident of robbery in this area. We have witnessed several similar incidents recently. The police patrolling is not very active in this neighborhood," voiced one resident, reflecting the frustrations of the local community.

The incident has highlighted the need for enhanced security measures and stricter vigilance to safeguard the residences of high-ranking officials. As the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Deka holds a crucial position and plays a vital role in national security.
