Robbery attempt foiled in Tinsukia-Makum bypass

TINSUKIA: Tinsukia Police led by additional SP Ripunjay Kakoty foiled an abortive bid of robbery after nabbing six dacoits in two vehicles including a woman companion in Tinsukia-Makum bypass on Friday night. The dacoits were caught with sharp weapons while they were planning for targets. They have been identified as Rumi Chutia, Papu Sonowal, Rinku Chawrak, Amrit Chutia and Likhon Chutia all from Barekuri and Saidul Hussain of Thermal Gate, Tinsukia.

The police seized two vehicles- a Swift car bearing registration no. AS 06K 7348 owned by one Chawrak and a Bolero car (AS 23N 7585) owned by one Chutia. They were forwarded to jail after registering a case 1032/2020 u/s 399 IPC at Tinsukia Sadar PS.
