DIGBOI: Three days after a heinous rape incident involving a minor at the Bogapani area under Digboi Police Station, sensation further gripped the area following the robbery at Nirupama Oil Petrol depot here on Saturday evening.

According to police sources, a group of six unidentified bikers with arms and other hand-made lethal weapons robbed an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh from the possession of pump worker Ajit Kumar and owner Utpal Borsaikia.

“The cash box was broken and the amount was looted. We could not react as the group had outnumbered us,” said Sadan Kumar Das, the licence holder of the firm who partners the business with Utpal Borsaikia.

Looting the amount from the fully illuminated petrol depot located along the NH-38 near Oil Valley School, the bikers drove towards Makum road. “We didn’t receive any telephonic information about the incident or else we would have chased the group,” said a police officer while adding, “The complaint was physically lodged 15 minutes after the incident.”

Meanwhile, the police have been trying to connect the dots before reaching any final conclusion. “We are investigating the case and no arrest has been made so far,” said the investigating officer.
