DEMOW: The people of Demow and its surrounding areas have geared up to celebrate Rongali Bihu. The air of Demow is reverberating with the sound of the dhol, pepa and gagana, clubbed together with the sonorous sound of the cuckoo.

With just a few hours left for Rongali Bihu festivities to commence, people were seen thronging the markets to buy new clothes on Monday.

The COVID-19 pandemic had badly affected the Rongali Bihu celebration last year but this year the festival will be celebrated and Bihu functions will also be organized in Demow following COVID protocol.

Bihu dance and dhol-badan (dhol-playing) workshops were organized in various places of Demow and its surrounding areas where children took part. Women are busy in making til pitha, tel pitha, coconut ladoo and other delicacies.

On the other hand, under the patronage of ATASU, Demow Regional Committee and former ATASU leaders, the fifth annual Mukoli Bihu will be organized in Demow Public Playground on April 15.
