Doomdooma: Rotary Club of Doomdooma observed Children’s Day at Doomdooma Jatiya Vidyalaya in a magnificent way by holding various games and sports and cultural events. Besides giving prizes, educational aids were distributed among the students of Ankur to Class VI.
The programme got underway with lighting of ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru by the Principal Surabhi Moran followed by a meeting presided over by the president of the managing committee Arjun Baruah. Sujit Kumar Baruah, president of Doomdooma Rotary Club, gave a brief speech on Jawaharlal Nehru. He also inaugurated a wall magazine brought out by the students of Class X while vice-president Bibhu Das released a hand-written magazine of Class III students.
The day was also observed by the Country Women Association of India, Tinsukia District Committee at Keshab Baheti Suryaday Children Home situated at Gangabari, Barhapjan and Rupaisiding by holding competitions on sports events like running, musical chair and cultural events like songs and dances competitions among 45 children of the destitute home. Besides giving prizes, light refreshments were also served to them.
