KOKRAJHAR: A rousing welcome was accorded to newly-elected Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary in Kokrajhar on Friday. Narzary, a candidate of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)-United People's Party Liberal (UPPL)-Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) alliance, was warmly welcomed at the UPPL head office.
Earlier, Narzary, went to Thulungapuri, Dotma and offered prayer and homage to Bodofa UN Brahma and attended a brief public meeting. In Kokrajhar, he was welcomed at Bodofa House and UPPL office where jubilant party supporters burst firecrackers.
Talking to media persons, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, AGP president Atul Bora, UPPL president and CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro and all legislators for voting for him to win. He said UPPL was a small regional political party but despite this fact, the 'Mitrajath' had given a seat to UPPL. He assured that he would raise voice for the common cause of the people of the region and would work for all communities.
General secretary of UPPL, Raju Kr. Basumatary said the new MP would definitely work for the people of the region as he was one of the most dedicated persons. He said the UPPL would fulfill its commitment and Narzary would be able to raise voice for the interest of all communities.
