BOKO: A serious incident happened at Hohuwapara village along the Assam-Meghalaya border under Boko LAC in Kamrup district on Tuesday. A mob from the village allegedly threatened a group of Assam State PWD officers and contractors to stop a 400-meter road construction work. The estimate of the construction work is Rs 40 lakh. The road has to be constructed in Hohuwa waterfall, a picnic spot.

According to contractor Padmaloachan Das, the mob told them to leave the village immediately and not to come again for such kind of development work which was sanctioned by the Assam government. The PWD officials and contractors immediately returned from the place and informed Boko Police Station.

On Wednesday, the DSP of Kamrup district, Kalyan Pathak, Boko PS officer-in-charge Jogendra Barman, and Samaria Revenue Circle officer (attached) Ashirbad Hazarika along with Assam Police Battalion and CRPF team visited the area to investigate. During the investigation, they found that Meghalaya had already started to work in the waterfall area under the MGNREGA scheme and road culverts had already been constructed. They also found the scheme details pillar, which they instantly damaged, as the working site and the pillar was on Assam land.

OC of Boko PS, Jogendra Barman said that now the situation was under control and police would be patrolling the area to avoid any untoward incident.
