Boko: Forest personnel of Bamunigaon Forest Range office on Wednesday morning recovered 33 pieces of sal wood logs from a roadside ditch near Satabari – Sampupara road at Satabari in Chaygaon constituency in Kamrup district. After that, the logs were stocked in Bamunigaon Forest Range Office.

DFO of Kamrup West Division Forest, Ranjan Goswami said that he got information that some smugglers had been loading logs into a TATA mini truck from a roadside ditch. So, the DFO immediately got in touch with Bamunigaon Forest Ranger Kushal Das. A team of forest personnel rushed to the place. They failed to catch the timber smugglers but they recovered the Sal logs which have a market value of around Rs 1lakh. The DFO suspects that the logs might have been brought in a vehicle on Tuesday night but the vehicle probably broke down there so the smugglers left the logs in the roadside ditch.
