Rs 20 lakh goes missing from APDCL office in Barpeta

BARPETA: In a shocking incident, Rs 20 lakh went missing from the APDCL office in Barpeta Road on Monday. The amount had been collected from consumers for payment of electricity bill. The money was kept in a bag in order to be deposited in the bank. The treasurer informed that the bag of money was missing from the cash counter. But the question is that how could the money be possibly stolen from the cash counter as no one is allowed to enter the counter? Moreover, the CCTV system in the office is also not working. So, no one has been apprehended as yet. Police investigation is on.
