BARPETA: To develop Satras and Naamghars government has taken an initiative and has offered financial aid. All total 20 Naamghars of Sarbhog LAC of Barpeta district were given financial aid in a programme held on Sunday at Barpeta Road Xahitya Xabha Bhawan. Each Naamghar was given Rs 2.50 lakhs for its renovation and development. Sarbhog MLA Ranjeet Kumar Dass was present in the programme as the chief guest. In his address he said,"Naamghar is the part and parcel of Assamese society. It is the symbol of unity, culture, tradition and sculpture of Assamese people. It is mainly a prayer hall. Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva and his great disciple Mahapurush Madhabdeva and his followers initiated Satras and Naamghars in order to spread vaishnavite culture among the people. It is a matter of regret that these Naamghars have not been developed till now. Hence, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stressed about the development of the Naamghars."
He also added that in Assam, a total of 8,000 Naamghars will be given financial aid. In Barpeta district, 440 Naamghars have been enlisted for financial aids. The Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta Munindra Sarma, and APDCL Chairman Sankar Ch Das were also present. The programme was conducted by Bubul Deuri.
