GUWAHATI: In a bizarre incident on Monday in Guwahati, a doctor named Ankur Hazarika's account was duped with a massive amount of Rs 35 lakhs by online frauds. According to reports, an FIR was issued by Dr.Hazarika at the Panbazar police station and a report was made with CID'S hotline number 155260.

Later based on the complaint CID successfully recovered the entire sum of Rs 35 lakhs taken from the SBI account.

According to ongoing reports there happens to be a huge number of victims who suffer from such online frauds but until the reports have been lodged it was hard for the victim to recover the losses incurred.

Meanwhile, the Assam police have already set up a protection device for such happenings. The device helps in tracking such online frauds and recovering the lost money. 

As these cases are quite common in everyday life, the CID has formed a helpline desk with helpline number 155260. The function of the helpline desk is such that, if any victim of online cyber fraud immediately contacts it and submits the valid documents required such as name, mobile number, name of bank/ wallet/ merchant from which amount has been debited, bank account number/wallet ID/ merchant ID/ UPI ID from which amount has been debited, transaction ID and date, debit/credit card number wherever applicable. The operator of the CID desk uploads it to the "Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud reporting & Management System". After the submission of the data the assigned banks are contacted and the money is blocked immediately. At last, the report of the complaint is generated through an email and sent to the complainer.

DR. Ankur Hazarika was vigilant about the unfortunate incident and immediately took action for it which successfully helped him get him total sum of Rs. 35 lakhs back.
