Rupesh Goala expelled from Congress for indulging in anti-party activities

DOOMDOOMA: Rupesh Goala who emerged victorious with BJP ticket from Doomdooma Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) in the recently concluded Assembly election, was expelled from the Indian National Congress (INC) along with 24 others for indulging in anti-party activities.

The other prominent party member who was expelled is Tutumoni Moran, a three-time winner Gaon Panchayat (GP) member. The president of Kakapather Block Congress Committee, in a letter dated April 30, 2021 addressed to the president, Tinsukia District Congress Committee, recommended the expulsion of Rupesh Goala and other party members from INC with immediate effect.

Kakapather block Congress Committee waited for more than one month to expel Rupesh Goala from the party. Goala, who is a central committee member of Asam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) and was secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (AICC), aspired for a Congress ticket to contest from Doomdooma LAC. On being denied ticket, he overnight changed his party to file nomination under BJP ticket.
