DEMOW: Under the patronage of Assam Science Committee, Demow Branch, a rural science mela was organized at Srimanta Sankardev School, Nitaipukhuri on January 11 and January 12. According to the schedule, on January 11, the programme started with flag hoisting ceremony by Ghana KantaGogoi, president of Assam Science Committee Demow Branch and BipinDutta, Headmaster of SrimantaSankardev School, Nitaipukhuri.

The theme song of Assam Science Committee was sung by the students of SrimantaSankardev School. The science competitions were inaugurated by PhuleswarHandique, working president of Organizing Committee of rural science mela on January 11. Four science competitions were organized on the day that were - Science Model Competition, Extempore Speech on Elected Asomiya Scientist topic, Quiz on Science basis and slogan writing competition on science.

On January 12, the programme started with plantation of saplings. After that a procession was taken out which was inaugurated by MahendraSarma, Block Elementary Education Officer, Demow. An open session was organized which was inaugurated by Dr. SanjibBorgohain, Principal of HCDG College, Nitaipukhuri. RajaniKantaDutta, president of the Organizing Committee of Rural Science Mela presided over the meeting. Dr. SurajitGiri, an Anesthesia Specialist of Demow Model Hospital, Dr. BhanuPrabhaSaikia, Associate Professor of Moran College and Dr. BimalDutta, Assistant Professor of Sivasagar Girls' College were present in the programme as specific orators.
