Guwahati: Four students from Assam on Sunday returned to India who were stranded in Ukraine.
These students were identified as Tanmayee, Siya, Himashree Kakati and Daisy Basumatary.
Both Tanmayee and Siya reached Mumbai where they were received by Assam Bhawan officials, while Himashree Kakati and Daisy Basumatary reached studying medicine in UZHNU Ukrain landed at Indira Gandhi Internation Airport in Delhi.
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said apprised the same and tweeted, ''"We welcome our students- Tanmayee & Siya, successfully evacuated from Ukraine and who have reached Mumbai just now. Received by our Assam Bhawan official,We are making all arrangements for their stay & free travel to Guwahati. Our teams will ensure all assistances to such students."
"Miss Himashree Kakati from Bongshar Sualkuchi, and Ms Daisy Basumatary from Maligaon Guwahati, both studying medicine in UZHNU Ukrain, have been evacuated by MEA and on their arrival in Delhi today at 9-15 am received by officials from Assam Bhawan, Delhi", CM said in his another tweet.
Notably, the Assam government has also set up a Help Desk to felicitate the students reaching their home states from the airport.
Apart from this, the state government has also provided free bus services for the students who have come back from Ukraine.
A few day back, the Assam Chief Minister had said that around 100 students from state were stuck in trouble hit Ukraine.
Reportedly, there are around 20,000 Indian citizens in Ukraine and in a bid to assist Indian nationals in returning to their homeland, the Indian government decided to conduct a special evacuation mission named 'Operation Ganga'.
