‘Sabda-Charoiveti Award’ conferred on poet Jogen Taid

Like the previous years, the Charoiveti Publication House of Lakhimpur district organized the ‘Sudinar Sankalpa’ programme on the New Year Day to take pledge for continuing good works for the betterment of the society, uplift of culture and literature, strengthening the bond of unity and harmony throughout the upcoming year.

LAKHIMPUR: Like the previous years, the Charoiveti Publication House of Lakhimpur district organized the ‘Sudinar Sankalpa’ programme on the New Year Day to take pledge for continuing good works for the betterment of the society, uplift of culture and literature, strengthening the bond of unity and harmony throughout the upcoming year. Simultaneously in the same event the publication house celebrated the completion of glorious eighteen years of the “Charoiveti”, the terminal magazine regularly published by the house from North Lakhimpur.

The day-long event was organized in a befitting manner in association with ‘Sabda’, a literary body, at the beautiful landscape on the bank of the Somdiri, near NH-15 at North Lakhimpur town. A good number of literary figures, cultural-social activists, including the local public, assembled in the event and took resolution to work for the wellbeing of mankind with united strength throughout the upcoming years.

The event was held under the management of Charoiveti editor Kalyani Chakraborti Gogoi, Sabda secretary Bubul Hazarika, writer Mukut Gogoi. It began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps by noted story-teller Bharat Rajkhowa and fiction writer Dhanada Devi. The old inmates of the Biyoli, an old age home, presented a chorus song, composed and directed by Dr. Nabakrishna Rajkhowa while 15 students from Lakhimpur Satriya Bidyalaya performed Bhortal Nritya. More than thirty poets from Nalbari, Barpeta, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur, including Dilip Kumar Gogoi, Jyu Cheng Changmai, Bharati Basumatary, Paramdwip Gogoi, Nazlina Alom, Golap Dihingiya, Sanjib Upadhyay, Partha Pratim Sarmah etc. recited poem in the event. Writer Ajanta from the State of Arunachal Pradesh attended the event as distinguished guest. Radio artiste Meera Begum, Labanya Dutta Saikia, Bijoya Gogoi, Minati Goswami Pujari presented songs. Attending the event, several prominent figures of Lakhimpur working in different fields shared their thoughts. In the same event, ‘Sabda-Charoiveti Award’ was conferred on prominent poet Jogen Taid.
