TINSUKIA: Sadiya College celebrated World Environment Day with a day-long programme which was organized by the Department of Zoology and NSS unit in collaboration with the Department of Botany and IQAC.

A lively talk was arranged through webinar in which Joynal Abedin (Benu), a dedicated environmental activist, and Manas Pratim Dutta, environment writer and secretary of Assam Science Writers' Association, acted as resource persons. The college also brought out a collage on the occasion depicting various environmental activities carried out by the students and also the rich biodiversity of Sadiya. While the inaugural speech was delivered by Brojen Borah, Principal i/c, Dr Karuna Kar Panda, coordinator IQAC, welcomed the guests and speakers. Science stream has been introduced in the college from this academic year.

Hope for Children-a Doomdooma based NGO celebrated World Environment Day with the global theme 'Ecosystem Restoration' by taking part in plantation of hundreds of plants and distribution of saplings in Doomdooma areas, including Doomdooma bypass, Azad Road, and Doomdooma police station. The NGO activists also distributed saplings by visiting houses and shops in and around Doomdooma area and contemplating to plant around 1000 saplings by the end of this month, said Ritu Tamang, Regional Coordinator.
