TINSUKIA: In a bid to woo tea tribe voters in Sadiya constituency, the newly-floated Jatiya Chah Shakti (JCS), the tea cell of sister organization of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), constituted Sadiya committee in a public meeting held at Talap on Sunday with Nabajyoti Borah, Tinsukia district president of AJP, in the chair.
Prospective candidate Jagadish Bhuyan, the general secretary of AJP and also former AGP minister, addressed the gathering of several hundred people, mostly from the tea tribe community. The speakers lambasted successive governments for failing to address genuine grievances of the tea tribe community. The present BJP government instead of paying legitimate wages to tea workers, are depositing money in Jan Dhan account as poll gimmick, the speakers alleged.
The meeting selected Chakradhar Malakar and Albert Dhan as president and secretary respectively of Jatiya Chah Shakti, Sadiya committee. More than 50 youths, including women, joined the AJP formally.
