Sapling plantation drive conducted in Panidehing Bird Sanctuary in Demow

DEMOW: Along with the rest of the State, Demow also observed World Environment Day on Wednesday. Under the patronage of Puberun Social and in association with the Sivasagar Tourist Guide Association and the Forest Department, the day was observed in Panidehing Bird Sanctuary and its surrounding areas. On the occasion, the saplings plantation programme was inaugurated in the bird sanctuary by Ajay Kumar Gogoi, Political Science HoD of Moran Women College. After that, the members of Puberun Social and Sivasagar Tourist Guide Association and employees of the Forest Department planted saplings in the Panidehing bird sanctuary.

On the other hand, in Demow Raichai Rural Stadium premises, the Sivasagar District Forest Department and Sivasagar district administration observed the World Environment Day by plantation saplings. In the programme, Dr Jayshree Naiding, DFO of Sivasagar district, Amitabh Singha, Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar district, administrative officers, students along with other dignitaries were present.
