Saplings distributed by Jeeban Jeuti Krishak Sangha in Jagiroad

Morigaon: Jeeban Jeuti Krishak Sangha on Wednesday celebrated the World Environment Day with funfare at Dongabori High School, Jagiroad, in Morigaon. The daylong programme started with a cleanliness drive programme in the premises of the school. Thereafter the president – Tulsi Deka of the organization hoisted the flag in presence of the members of the organization. It was followed by the lighting of the earthen lamp.

The organization, led by Lachit Deka, planted saplings of different trees along the Dongabori-Jagiroad road. Thereafter the organization distributed more then one hundred saplings of different trees among the students and local people. Moreover, an open meeting was organized in keeping with the celebration of World Environment Day. Under the presidentship of social worker Surya Deka, the open meeting was conducted by Tulsi Deka. Attending as the chief guest – ULFA leader Pradeep Gogoi warned the people against effects of a polluted environment and asked the students and local people to plant a sapling for a cleaner environment.
