DIBRUGARH: Union Minister for AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off an International Yoga Mahotsav in the Dibrugarh University Playground on the morning of Friday. This event has been organised to commemorate the International Day of Yoga 2023, which is just 75 days away.
“Yoga has been able to win the hearts of people across the world under the initiatives of our popular Prime Minister and because of his efforts, the International Day of Yoga is being celebrated across the world. Last year we were able to include 125 Cr people in yoga practices, but this year we are preparing to make it even bigger. We had started several events as a part of the 100-day countdown to the event, and this event marks the remaining of just 75 days for this year’s International Day of Yoga. I am very happy to let you know that students from 12 foreign countries studying at Dibrugarh University are also taking part in this event.” mentioned Sarbananda Sonowal during his presence at the event.
“I gladly accepted the invite when Sarbanada Sonowal asked me to be a part of this massive initiative to popularise yoga, towards the realisation of the dream of our Prime Minister. It was very heartening to see such a massive participation in the event. Yoga not only helps with the physical well-being of the participants but also with the mental well-being” said the Tripura Chief Minister.
Around 6000 students and enthusiasts took part in the International Yoga Mahotsav organised in Dibrugarh. Several key leaders including deputy chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh- Chowna Mein, Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong, Union Minister Rameshwar Teli, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, Labour Minister Sanjoy Kisan and Industries Minister Bimal Bora, Manipur Health Minister Sapam Ranjan Singh, Meghalaya Health Minister Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang and Sikkim Urban Development minister Lall Bahadur Das also attended this event along with several other dignitaries.
