LAKHIMPUR: Sadou Asom Kaiborta Yuba-Chatra Sanmilan will observe the Sati Aai Radhika Smriti Divas in Lakhimpur district with a two-day long agenda. The event will be organized at Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town on May 25 and May 26.
Gouri Sankar Das, the central committee general secretary of the organization, said this at a press meet held at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Saturday. He further informed that the event would be held in association with the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization which had already taken up steps for due preparation in order to organize the programme successfully.
Addressing the media persons, the general secretary of the organization expressed his resentment over the State Government's apathy to accord due recognition to Sati Radhika who was venerated and recognized by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev.
"Gurujona Sankardev manifested his noble ideology and honour towards the women community by recognizing Sati Radhika in order to establish their dignity and values in the society. This noble soul is the symbol of self-esteem and sentiment of the Kaiborta community. But successive governments did not establish the identity of this noble soul despite consecutive demands raised by our organization," Gouri Sankar Das asserted.
He further said that several ministers of the State Government along with a host of MLAs and MPs would be present in different programmes of the event. In connection, a colourful cultural rally will also be taken out wherein noted cultural artistes of the State will take part. The general secretary of the organization appealed to all sections of the society to extend cooperation to organize the programme smoothly and successfully.
