LAKHIMPUR: The Asom Anusuchita Jati Yuba Chatra Santha (AAJYCS) has demanded arrest of a college teacher who is allegedly working by producing fake caste certificate of the SC community.

Regarding the issue, the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization convened a press meet at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Sunday in the presence of central committee president Nripen Das and many other dignitaries of the organization.

Addressing media persons after the meeting, Lakhimpur district unit AAJYCS president Dibyajyoti Hazarika, secretary Sumanta Das, Majuli district unit president Pranab Das, secretary Sanjib Medhi alleged that the professor idetified as Lunamoni Dascollected the SC certificate by producing fake information as a member of SC community on June 2 in 2008 despite the fact that she belongs to More Other Backward Classes (MOBC). She is a resident of Ward No. 2, Nakari of North Lakhimpur town

According to the members of the organization, the woman applied for the post of professor in Majuli College in October last. Subsequently, the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization carried out an investigation into the matter. They reportedly found that the woman belongs to MOBC. Then the organization filed a complaint with the Principal of Majuli college and requested him not to allow her to appear in the interview.

Simultaneously, the Lakhimpur unit of the organization filed another complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of the district and requested him to review her caste certificate. As per the complaint, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan cancelled the caste certificate of the woman by issuing an order on August 19 as per caste verification report submitted by Circle Officer of North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle on August 10.

According to the caste verification report submitted by the CO concerned, Lunamoni Das belongs to MOBC (sub-caste Chutia) and does not belong to SC community hereditarily. The copies of the order was also issued to Vasant College for Women, Rajghat, Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh, where the woman is serving as professor at present, in addition to the Commissioner and Secretary of the Welfare of Plain Tribes and Other Backward Classes and the Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur.

In the press meet, the dignitaries of the organization further stated that a large number of non-SC people had been serving as professors in various higher educational institutions of Lakhimpur as well as other places by producing fake SC certificate. They alleged that the principals of those higher educational institutions had appointed such fake SC people in the posts of professor reserved for SC depriving the genuine SC candidates despite the organization filing complaints against them before their appointment. Expressing resentment, they further added that the principals of those educational institutions prioritized to appoint the fake SC candidate despite the availability of the genuine candidates.

In the same press meet, the organization thanked the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur for cancelling the caste certificate of the woman and warned the presidents of the SC Board and Subdivisional SC Welfare Boards not to issue SC certificate to fake SC people.
