TEZPUR: The scientific advisory meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Dr Promod Chandra Deka, Principal CEO, Project implementation unit-CBBO, Horticultural Research Station, Assam Agricultural University.

Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das in his address advised KVK, Sonitpur to work on medicinal and aromatic plants so that the raw material requirement of Dabur and Patanjali can be fulfiled. He also emphasized the area expansion of litchi and advised KVK, Sonitpur to work in convergence mode.

Dr Rajesh Kumar, Director ATARI, Zone VI, Dr Prasanna Pathak, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and Dr Prabal Saikia, Chief Scientist, RARS, North Lakhimpur attended the meeting virtually and expressed their views for uplift of the farmers.

Director of Research (Veterinary), AAU, Khanapara suggested to include animal science component in the action plan for 2022-23. Director of FMTTI, Kailash Nagle detailed about the facilities offered by their institute. The meeting was attended by DVO, Sonitpur Dr B. K. Barman, DDM, NABARD, P. K. Nath and gave their suggestions.

Officials from line departments like DICC, DFDO, ASRLM, AIR, DAO, NERIWALM, Agriculture irrigation, Executive Engineer(Agri), Officials from NGOs, BODs and members of FPCs, progressive farmers and farm women, entrepreneurs were present and shared their views. The action taken report of last SAC meeting was presented by Angana Sarmah, SMS (Horticulture). The progress report (2021-22) and action plan (2022-23) was presented by Dr Arifa Momtaz Begum, in charge Head of KVK, Sonitpur.
