KOKRAJHAR: The District Magistrate, Chirang has promulgated a prohibitory order U/S 144 CrPC 1973 as a precautionary measure banning fishing in rivers, plying of private boats at unauthorized ghats, plying of boats by lessees at notified ghats from 5 pm to 6 am, plying of boats without safety measures, plying of boats with excess load and passengers, plying of boats during rainy and stormy condition, plying of unfit boats, movement of public nearby the rivers during floods, standing on the section of road that collapsed and crossing of rivers during floods in the district.

The district magistrate has imposed this order across the district considering the possibility of accidents, lost of human life and property, particularly in the rivers like Aie, Nangalbhanga and Champa and their tributaries. This order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force for the next 15 days.
