Security arrangement tightened for third phase poll: ADGP  LR Bishnoi

KOKRAJHAR: Additional Director of Police (ADGP) and IGP, BTC LR Bishnoi on Friday said that the security arrangements had been tightened in BTR for the third phase of assembly election to be held on April 6.

Talking to reporters at the Kokrajhar SP office, Bishnoi said that 46 companies of security personnel and para-military forces had been deployed in BTR to control the law-and-order situation and for smooth conduct of election. The security forces had enhanced patrolling and operation against disruptive elements, he said, adding that there would be CRPF component in sensitive and critical polling stations in the region. He also said that the situation in BTR was under complete control for free and fair election.

Bishnoi said, "There are altogether 3,544 polling stations in 12 constituencies under BTR, of which election in four constituencies of Udalguri district in 911 polling stations have been conducted in the second phase. The third phase of election will take place in 28-Gossaigaon, 29-Kokrajhar West, 30-Kokrajhar East, 31-Sidli, 33-Bijni, 63-Chapaguri, 62-Barama and 58-Tamulpur constituency in BTR on April 6. Meanwhile, election in Mazbat, Kalaigaon, Udalguri and Paneri was held in the second phase on April 1."
