Security Beefed Up In Demow For Independence Day

DEMOW: With just two days left for the 73rd Independence Day security has been beefed up in Demow and its surrounding areas. However on Friday night (August 9), the Sivasagar district police along with the CRPF jawans conducted a search operation and apprehended a ULFA (I) cadre Biren Chetia alias Rontu Asom from Bokota Barpial Habi gaon under Bokota Nemuguri Police Station and a grenade and three mobile phones was recovered from his possession. Due to this the local Police and CRPF Jawans have been carrying out random checking of vehicles at Demow Chariali on NH-37 along with other places of Demow to prevent any untoward incident.
