DIBRUGARH: A seminar on 'Improving the lives of women tea tribes in Assam' was held at Sri Sri Aauniati Satra in Dibrugarh on Sunday. The seminar was organized by Assam State Commission for Women (ASCW) in collaboration with National Commission for women in association with the District women cell, Dibrugarh.

Speaking at the programme, ASCW chairman Dr Hemaprabha Borthakur said, "The women tea tribes of Assam plays an important role for uplifting the tea industry of Assam. For the development of the women folk of tea industry many such schemes were given by the government. All the government machinery should work in a close coordinated way to improve the lives of women tea tribe."

Duliajan MLA Terosh Gowala, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, DDA chairman Sanjay Dutta, DAMN chairman Dr Saikat Patra among others were present in the programme.
