Senior Assam Congress leaders Santiuse Kujur and Gautam Roy quits party

It seems Congress’s bad times will not come to end as some of its trusted and loyal members are lately ending all terms with the party. It mall began with Congress MP Sanjay Singh followed by Bhubaneswar Kalita and now Santiuse Kujur and Gautam Roy.

As per reports, both the senior congress leaders tendered their resignations on Saturday. Kujur, in his official resignation letter, has mentioned that he has taken the decision to resign from the party purely on the basis of his personal reasons. He has also mentioned that he had been associated with the party for 13 years and it was a pleasant journey for him to be a part of the national political party.

On the other hand, Gautam Roy has quit the party for he is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Roy has sent his resignation letter to the APCC president Ripun Borah. While placing his resignation, the departing Congress leader also said that people will come to know it as to when will he join the BJP.

Roy has made a public announcement of joining the BJP and have also added that the decision of joining the party is his individual decision and he will be doing it alone. He also added that he is in good terms with Narendra Modi and have also spoken on this wth state BJP President Ranjit Das. Roy also added that the BJP theme Hindutva attracts hi the most as for the last thirty years he has been winning on the votes of the Hindu people and hence, he is more attracted towards Hindutva.

Before this, Former Congress MP Bhubaneswar Kalita had announced his resignation from the Indian National Congress recently and has joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday. Kalita had first resigned from the Rajya Sabha on the row over the revocation of Article 370 and this was followed by his resignation announcement from the Congress party as well.
