Senior Congress leader dies of COVID at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital

DHEKIAJULI: Former Borsola Block Congress (I) president and social worker Bijoy Paul (72) died on Friday morning at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital. Earlier, Bijoy Paul, who was suffering from COVID-19, was admitted at the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital on Thursday for better treatment. Paul was serving the Congress party as the president of Borsola Block Congress (I) for the last few years. He was also associated with different social organizations of Borsola constituency.

Paul was cremated as per COVID-19 protocol at Sirajuli Pather Gaon on Friday evening. His demise was condoled by APCC general secretary Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee, former Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Bhima Nanda Tanti, and other senior Congress (I) leaders. Paul leaves behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives.
