TANGLA: In a goodwill gesture, a senior journalist of Tangla town in Udalguri district distributed food items to 20 needy families on Saturday. The journalist, Bapan Sarma visited the families in Bhuyankhat area of Udalguri district and distributed rice, lentils, potatoes, salt, mustard oil, vegetables and soaps to each family.
Talking to this correspondent, Sarma said, “The downtrodden people, especially the physically challenegd and widows, are worst sufferers of the lockdown and it was the call of my duty and moral obligation towards the society.”
Sarma also appealed to people to obey the lockdown guidelines and adopt the preventive measures to tackle coronavirus. Meanwhile, a newspaper hawker of Tangla town, Krishna Roy also came forward to help the poor and needy and distributed ration and vegetables among a number of families in the area.
