A sensitization programme and workshop on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ was held in Lakhimpur district under the auspices of the Department of Industries Commerce & Public Enterprise in association with District Industries & Commerce Centre of the district.

LAKHIMPUR: A sensitization programme and workshop on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ was held in Lakhimpur district under the auspices of the Department of Industries Commerce & Public Enterprise in association with District Industries & Commerce Centre of the district. The events were organized in the conference hall of a hotel and it was inaugurated by Sumit Sattawan, the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur district.

Notably, in order to streamline and ensure effective compliance of the labour laws by the industrial establishments and create an industrial friendly conductive labour environment to achieve “ease of doing business”. The “Auto Renewal Scheme”, under the commissionerate of Labour, Assam has been launched and as such the license, certificate for registration, renewal of license, certificate under the Contract Labour (R&A) Act 1970, the Certificate of Registration/Renewal under the Assam Shops & Establishment Act 1971, the Motor Transport Workers Act 1948, will be auto generated after submission of application of registration, Renewal in the “ease of doing business” Assam portal. The link of the portal is https://eodb.assam.gov.in. To create mass awareness in this regard, the sensitization programme and the workshop was organized.

General Manager of the Lakhimpur District Industries & Commerce Centre, Ranjan Borah moderated the programme in addition to explaining the objective of the programme. Officers of the Department of Industries Commerce & Public Enterprise, Rupam Borah and Bibhuti Deuri explained the aims and objectives and importance of the “Ease of Doing Business” initiative through power point presentation. They urged upon the participants of the event to create extensive awareness on the portal and link concerned for the benefits of the stakeholders. The event was attended by Lakhimpur DDC Utpal Borah, Zila Parishad chairperson Manju Borgohain, Narayanpur Municipal Board chairperson Harish Chandak, the departmental heads of Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Majuli district along with the members of the Chamber of Commerce and entrepreneurs of the three districts.
