TEZPUR: Sensitization programme on tuberculosis among religious leaders was held at Don Bosco, Bishop House premises on Friday. The programme was organized by District Health Society, NTEP, Sonitpur under Tezpur TB unit in collaboration with Tezpur Social Service Society (TSSS).
Dr Sanjoy Roy, District TB Officer, Sonitpur, created awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB. He shared some facts about the early warning and awareness for early detection. Dr Roy elaborately discussed about the signs and symptoms, treatment procedure, medication and importantly about 'Nikshay Poshan Yojna'. He also said that the TB affected people should come together to learn about TB and help the community to get every knowledge about TB. Dr Roy requested all the religious representatives to come forward and fulfill the dream of the Prime Minister of India to eliminate TB from India by 2025. The programme was attended by By Father Biswajit Ekka, Director of TSSS, Father Deben Kachari and other dignitaries.
