Sessions Judge court, Barpeta sentenced 2 rapists to five-year imprisonment

BARPETA: The Sessions Judge court, Barpeta, sentenced two rapists to 5 years imprisonment with fine of Rs 2,000. According to report, Bitopan Das and Mitu Das alias Chana raped an eight-year old girl in the field of Ramcharan Medhi School. She was a student of Class VIII of Juri Ram Pathak Girls' High School. After two months of the incident, she committed suicide because she was harassed by the family members of the two rapists.

A case was registered against them case no. 56/2019 U/S special POCSO Act 8. Session Judge Aparesh Chakravarty sentenced them to 5 years imprisonment with fine of Rs 2,000.
