Seuni Bornaamghar not enlisted under Assam Darshan scheme

GOLAGHAT: The Government of Assam has launched a scheme named Assam Darshan under which financial aid was given to various naamghars, temples, xatras, mosques and churches which were established about 100 years ago or more.

In the first list of this scheme, several such religious institutions throughout the State received financial aid. Recently, the second list was released where total 8,000 religious institutions from all the legislative assembly constituencies were selected for the financial aid of two lacs and fifty thousand rupees each. Rs 2.5 lakh each.

A naamghar located at Rangamati near Badulipara in Golaghat got deprived of this financial scheme. The Seuni Bornaamghar, which was established in the year 1878, was the only religious institution in the then revenue village. But this Bornaamghar, which is around 150 years old, has not received any financial aid under the Assam Darshan scheme.

The local people have expressed their resentment over this. To get enlisted in the scheme, the approval of the local MLA is required. The Seuni Bornaamghar Management Committee had completed all the required formalities but yet it was deprived of the financial aid. Managing committee president Pradeep Saikia said that they would meet the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat seeking adequate measures regarding the same.
