Seven drug peddlers arrested with suspected heroin in Nagaon

NAGAON: In three separate drives, Nagaon police under special supervision of new incharge Superintendent of Police, Nagaon Dhruba Bora, arrested 7 drug peddlers including two women respectively from Radhaati under Dhing PS, Naromari under Haiborgaon TOP and Chatiyaan under Juria PS on Friday night and also seized a huge quantities of suspected heroin as well as other narcotics from their possessions, sources added. Sources claimed that in the first drive initiated by Dhing PS police at Saru Radhaati village, police arrested one Billal Uddin (33) and seized 7 containers filled with suspected heroin, a motorcycle, one smartphone and cash of Rs 10,000 from his possession while in the second drive, Haiborgaon TOP police arrested 5 peddlers including two women identified as Farida Khatun, Jahanara Khatun, Shahjahan Ali, Enamul Haque and Firdul Islam from Naromari area in the town. Police subsequently seized 17 plastic containers filled with suspected heroin on spot from their possessions.

Besides, in the third drive by Juria PS police, one Sofikul Islam from Chatiyaan village was arrested and 17 plastic containers filled with suspected heroin from his possession were seized, sources said, adding further that the worth of the seized heroin would be several lakhs in the market. Police registered three separate cases in this regard and legal action is being taken, sources said further.
