GOLAGHAT: At a time when the Government of India has taken serious note over employees who got jobs using forged Scheduled Caste or backward classes caste certificate, as many as seven employees got jobs in Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) by producing fake SC certificates. This allegation was raised by the All Assam Scheduled Caste Students’ Union (AASCSU) Golaghat district unit on Monday at a press meet held at Numaligarh.

The president and secretary of AASCSU Golaghat district committee, Brigu Kumar Das and Pronab Protim Das respectively, said that seven persons in various posts of NRL were working by submitting fake SC certificates to the authority concerned during the time of appointment. They do not belong to the SC community and they got their jobs by producing fake SC certificates, they AASCSU leaders alleged.

They also said that according to existing norms, if it is found that a government servant had furnished false information or produced a false certificate in order to secure appointment, he should not be retained in service. When an appointing authority comes to know that an employee had submitted a false/fake caste certificate, it has to initiate action to remove or dismiss such an employee from service as per the provisions of relevant service rules. They demanded the NRL authority to removal these fraud employees from service and to take stringent action against them.

In this regard, a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat for taking immediate initiative within 11 days, else the AASCSU threatened to launch massive protest against the authority concerned.
