Seven thieves nabbed & bikes recovered in Barpeta district

BARPETA: Barpeta Police nabbed a gang of thieves from different places of the district on Saturday night. The operation was led by Pranjit Das, in-charge, Barpeta sadar police station. After investigation into the theft case in Sonkuchy, the police were able to catch two thieves near the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta. Based on the confession of these two thieves, the police of Barpeta and Kalgachiya were able to catch five more thieves from Gunialguri of Barpeta district on Saturday night. The police team also recovered four bikes (AS-15 E 6214 Bajaj Discover; AS-15 M7565 Yamaha bike; AS-15 D6906 Apache bike, and another Apache bike without number plate) from their possession.

The arrested persons are Mahmudur Rahman of Guniyalguri, Barpeta, Mahidul Islam of Monakocha village, Barpeta, Rashidul Islam of Haladhiya village, Barpeta, Shahidul Islam, and Sanidul Islam from near Jatigaon, Barpeta, Samejuddi of Golappara in Bongaigaon district and Safiqul Ali of Telipara in Baska district. All of them were produced in the court. Among them, five were sent to judicial custody and two were sent to police remand.
