SI hiring scam: BJP leader Jintu Nath arrested

Sonitpur: The vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bezera Circle of Jalukbari constituency, Jintu Nath has been arrested, He is suspected to be involved in the infamous SI recruitment exam scam.

He has been arrested from Sonitpur's Jamuguri area by Chaiduar police and is to be produced in Guwahati court on Sunday.

The Crime Inspection Department (CID) is conducting a raid in a company in Guwahati's Zoo Tiniali area, called Krishna Global.

A huge amount of cash was recovered on Saturday after police raided the house of Tarani Banikya of Bongaigaon. He is the father-in-law of Rupam Das, who has also been arrested. The police recovered more than Rs. 3 crores from the house.

Rupam is a close aide of Rubul Hazarika, the partner of Akshay Telecommunications, the company that got the sub-contract to conduct the SI exams. Rubul has also been arrested on Friday.
