SI recruitment scam: Pranab Sarma arrested, had demanded Rs 10 L from candidates

GUWAHATI: Another accused has been arrested in relation to the Assam Police Sub Inspector hiring exam scam. The accused, Pranab Sarma alias Bulbul hails from Nalbari town. Sarma owns the Lata Pharmacy in Nalbari and is also a government school teacher.

An audio clip of Sarma has already gone viral on the internet. The clip had Sarma demanding money from the candidate of the SI exam. The accused demanded Rs. 9 – 10 lakh from the candidates. He is being interrogated at Nalbari Police Station. He has been arrested on the basis of a special phone tapping. Several accused involved in the SI exam scam have been arrested from Nalbari.

Earlier on Sunday, Akshay Chand, the owner of Akshay Telecommunication's godown was set on fire mysteriously while CID was raiding Chand's house in Bongaigaon. The company was given the sub-contract to conduct the exams and were involved in this infamous question paper leak scam.
