SILCHAR: Local residents of Bihara area in Katigorah constituency on Saturday blocked the road in protest against a tragic accident in the area on friday that left a youth dead while his bike collided with an escort car of Minister Parimal Suklabaidya. Locals blocked the busy Silchar Kalain road for four hours. Later local MLA Khaliluddin Mazumdar, Additional Police Super reached the site to pacify the angry mob. Local residents demanded a job for the widow of Safiul Islam, who was killed in the tragic accident. Maintaining that Suklabaidya had no role in the tragic incident, the local residents said being a minister he should have at least sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family.

On Friday evening Islam, 43, went out to bring ‘iftar’ items and met with the accident. The escort car bearing registration number AS 30-8883 was heading towards Meghalaya border to receive the minister and unfortunately collided with Safiul’s bike. The impact of the collision was so severe that the biker died on the spot.
