SILCHAR: "You trusted me with your valuable votes and I promised I will always stand by your whenever you need me." This was stated by Silchar legislator Dipayan Chakraborty while visiting various parts of flood-affected areas in Silchar on Saturday.
Earlier in the morning, Dipayan inspected various parts of Silchar town, including Fatak bazar and neighbouring areas along with Cachar Guardian Minister Ashok Singhal and officials of various line departments of Cachar administration and took stock of the situation.
Later, Dipayan along with officials of water resources, Silchar Municipal Board, APDCL and Cachar administration took initiatives to clear the river water which had inundated various parts of ward numbers 1,2,3 and 4 under greater Malugram.
With an aim to ease woes of local populace, MLA Dipayan Chakr-aborty took an initiative to employ four sets of 40 HP diesel engine-powered water pumps to clear out flood water from various parts of greater Malugram, including Itkhola football field which was totally submerged by the river water following heavy rainfall over the last few weeks.
Later in the day, MLA Dipayan also visited the relief camps at Cachar College and Axam Xahitya Xabha , spoke to the inmates, learnt about their problems and assured government's efforts towards relieving the plight of flood victims in this difficult phase. He also instructed officials to ensure smooth supply of essential commodities and their efficient utilization, stated a press release.
