Silchar-New Haflong special train to run from today

HAFLONG: A special train will run between Silchar-New Haflong from June 30 till July 14 as per a circular from the office of the Principal Chief Operating Manager, NF Railway believed to. The railway communication between Lumding-Badarpur has been disrupted since May 14 resulting in inconvenience to people, not only for Dima Hasao but for the neighboring states, including southern Assam. Moreover, the city of Silchar devastated by floods requires prompt relief.

The Railways has been incurring heavy loss due to such a long disruption of communication. The General Manager, NF Railway, had assured the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma that train communication between Silchar and New Haflong would be resumed on June 26, in a video conference. But the Railways could not do it. Then again on June 27, a circular was made available that train would run on June 28 but this circular was cancelled without assigning any reason.

Meanwhile, another circular was issued on Wednesday that a train would also run from Guwahati to Langting for six days in a week, except Saturday, from June 30 to July 14.
