Silchar: Youth killed; locals damage murderer’s residence

Silchar : Caught in a fatal clash between two groups, a youth unfortunately died after being severely injured. The incident happened at Jamalpur area in Dholai on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Babu Laskar, 27. Sources said, the old rivalry between locals Sakib Hussain and Anowar Hussain took a bloody turn when the latter along with 20 other accomplices launched an attack on the former and his two friends including Babu Laskar. Sakib and one of his friends managed to escape and Babu was beaten badly. Local residents later took Babu to a nearby hospital but he was declared brought dead.

The brawl between Sakib and Anowar centered around money transaction. Sabik used to drive a car owned by Anowar. After the car sustained damages following an accident, Anowar demanded Rs 10,000 but Sakib failed to pay. That led to fiery feud between the two that finally took the life of an innocent person. Meanwhile, Sakib had lodged an FIR seeking protection.

The death of Babu had infuriated the locals who attacked Anowar’s residence and damaged his car and a portion of his house. Local police and CRPF had been deployed in the area apprehending further attack.
