GAURISAGAR: Along with the rest of the state, Silpi Divas was observed at Gaurisagar Matiabat Tini Ali under the aegis of AASU Gaurisagar regional unit in association with its Nakatani branch and local people. The day long programme started with hoisting of flag followed by swahid tarpan and plantation of saplings.
On this occasion, a colourful procession was taken out throughout the locality. Ratul Dutta, headmaster of No 384 Mitong Nakatani LP School flagged it off. Thereafter, educationist Tarun Gogoi inaugurated the programme. On the eve of the divas a drawing, Jyoti Songeet and creative dance based on jyoti songeet was held among the school students. Later in the evening, an open session was held where Dr.Devajit Nath, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar, Promode Baruah, Block Elementary Education Officer, Amguri Elementary Education Block took part and spoked about the contributions of Rupkonwer Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla towards Assamse cultural and society. The speakers urged upon to follow the ideals of Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla. In the evening a good number of artistes like Panchanon Deva Goswami, Suresh Chandra Borah, Banamali Goswami, Diamond Rajkhowa and Monuj Borah were felicitated.
