GAURISAGAR: During an official visit to the district, Upper Assam Divisional Commissioner Julie Sonowal on Saturday formally launched e-office (e-file management system) at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar. With this initiative, Sivasagar attained the status of being the first district in the State to launch e-office.
In this connection, a meeting was held at the Sukafa conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar. Appreciating the prompt response, the Upper Assam Divisional Commissioner congratulated the district administration for its initiative in putting a giant step forward towards embracing paperless system.
“With the office of the Deputy Commissioner transitioning towards a complete electronic file management system, four more offices of the district, namely, office of the Superintendent of Police, office of the District Transport Officer, Agriculture office and Zila Parishad will also come under the e-office system,” she said.
Attending the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. S Lakshmanan elaborated upon the advantages of e-office. He said, “With the benefit of having zero maintenance cost, the system will not only provide full confidentiality of the office files, but will also save us from the worries of space management.” He called upon the officers and staff of the DC’s office to prepare and adapt themselves to the new mode of file management and set a modal for others to emulate, not only in the district but in the State as well.
“The success of the system will depend largely on the quality, dedication and involvement of the manpower working with the system,” he stated. He assured of extending hand-holding and all possible support to make this initiative a grand success.
The Deputy Commissioner elaborately highlighted the importance of e-office and the facilities available in the system for better services delivery to the citizen.
e-office is a Mission Mode Project developed and designed by National Informatics Centre (NIC). e-office was first implemented by Government of Assam at the Assam Secretariat in 2017. Later, it was extended to the Directorate, Commissionerate, attached offices and districts levels. The Secretariat Administration Department (SAD) is the Nodal Department of the project in Government of Assam.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Amitava Sinha; District Development Commissioner Joonmoni Sonowal; Additional Deputy Commissioners Bidit Das and Dilip Terang, Project Manager of e-office Shariq Khan; District Informatics Officer Kamruj Zaman; Assistant Commissioners Gauri Priya Deuri and Manali Rajak along with a host of officials and staff of the DC’ office.
