SIVASAGAR: The untimely death of young and energetic physician Dr Sumit Kumar Garodiya in a road accident near Kohora recently was a severe blow to the Sivasagar Civil Hospital as he was instrumental in overall healthcare dispensation in the hospital.

Disclosing this, Dr Rajiv Baruah, Superintendent of Sivasagar Civil Hospital, said that the hospital was facing shortage of doctors and his absence was likely to aggravate the problem in the hospital in the days to come. Dr Baruah admitted that the services were being affected due to this shortage.

“The functioning is obviously being affected. Considering the huge inflow of patients, we need more doctors to provide quality service to the patients,” Baruah said while narrating the existing problems of the hospital. Sivasagar Civil Hospital covers a huge area, and therefore it requires more doctors to provide total healthcare service, he said, adding that the existing staff was not adequate to meet the ever-increasing requirement.
